Once again, I'm writing about the fallacy of the androgen hypothesis of hair loss. Time passes, but unfortunately, nothing has changed in this dogma, and doctors continue to prescribe sometimes harmful antiandrogen medications, supplements, and cosmetics. Without testing, without attempting to understand them, without verifying their effectiveness. Examples of harmful treatments include expensive mesotherapy with finasteride and dutasteride, supplements with saw palmetto extract, and spironolactone. Don't fall for such things.

The most obvious argument against the androgenic nature of hair loss is obvious: the most effective hair loss treatments, such as minoxidil, aminexil, and copyrrole, are actually antifibrotic agents and have no direct effect on androgen metabolism!   That is, the cause of any baldness is the development of a fibrous process in the scalp tissue , and this can occur for various reasons - from mechanical impact, from chemical, from immune, etc.

I'll also describe why some people experience a rebound effect during treatment with minoxidil. This medication is a morphogen (like valproic and retinoic acids, although through different pathways). This means it affects processes associated with tissue growth. Roughly speaking, if there's "excessive" tissue growth, other cancer defense mechanisms are activated, such as cell apoptosis. These are precisely the processes that occur when growth is reversed after minoxidil.

What's also interesting is that this effect occurs when treating acne with isotretinoin—but it's considered therapeutic there 🙂, because after increased division (an exacerbation at the beginning of the "treatment"), the sebaceous glands die from apoptosis, which reduces the oiliness of the skin. But that's a separate topic; I'll make a reel about it on Instagram.

Here's another practical tip: if minoxidil didn't work for you due to rebound or side effects, there are also aminexil and copierrole.  The latter is the safest and most effective treatment without rebound.

I've already given you a guide on hair loss treatment , but now I've added a brand of Copyrrole, which is available in Ukraine. In my case, this treatment works the most effectively.
