Joint problems are common today, even among young people. There are numerous factors contributing to this, from poor footwear to a sedentary lifestyle and the use of systemic retinoids. These problems are also often genetically determined. Such problems need to be treated from the very beginning; otherwise, more serious problems await you as you get older, such as those affecting your knee joints.

Therefore, today's post is about supplements that will help you, if not restore cartilage tissue, then at least stop the progression of pathology. But first, I'll describe a couple of physiological factors to consider before taking any supplements in this area of health.

Joints suffer greatly from low estradiol or low somatotropic hormone (growth hormone).  For example, doctors prescribe anti-estrogenic drugs to women with breast cancer. They do this without considering the indications or CYP polymorphisms. With such drugs, estrogen levels drop below 10 pg/ml, and at this level, no supplements will help! Similarly, if your morning levels are consistently  below 0.1 ng/ml, supplements won't be effective!

If you have immune system issues, specifically chronic infectious diseases of various origins (for example, Lyme or another infection that damages joints), supplements won't help either! First, we relieve the immune system's stress, then give supplements  (or hormones, as mentioned above) for joint health.

Systemic retinoids damage cartilage and ligaments.  The side effects you see on your mucous membranes and skin will also affect them! If you're taking these medications and complaining about knee pain or other issues, know that the retinoids are the culprit!

Now about supplements, from oral supplements I recommend:

  1. Troxerutin  capsules inhibit hyaluronidase, thereby increasing the amount of hyaluronic acid in the body, which is also good for joints.
  2. The Japanese supplement from the photo above contains methylsulfonylmethane and salmon proteoglycans.
  3. Lysine , an amino acid.
  4. Articon  (made in India, but the ingredients seem okay, available in pharmacies)

From injections I recommend (these are chondroitin and glucosamine):

  1. Arthrox
  2. Sinarta
  3. Somatotropin, Growth Hormone (only in case of its deficiency!!!)
